Stat. § 18A:40-12.15","heading":"Management, care of diabetes by student permitted; authorization.","body":"5.\tUpon the written request of the parent or guardian and as provided in a student's individualized health care plan, a school district shall allow the student to attend to the management and care of the student's diabetes as needed in the classroom, in any area of the school or school grounds, or at any school-related activity if the student has been evaluated and determined to be capable of doing so as reflected in the student's individualized health care plan.  The student's management and care of his diabetes shall include the following:\na.\tperforming blood glucose level checks;\nb.\tadministering insulin through the insulin delivery system the student uses;\nc.\ttreating hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia;\nd.\tpossessing on the student's person at any time the supplies or equipment necessary to monitor and care for the student's diabetes;\ne.\tcompliance with required procedures for medical waste disposal in accordance with district policies and as set forth in the individualized health care plan; and\nf.\totherwise attending to the management and care of the student's diabetes.\nL.2009, c.131, s.5.","path":["TITLE 18A EDUCATION"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"d9a0d112f6b368eee4a7654cbd83fc39fa6634a78b29a0665590d81fa9414dad","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-18a-40-12.14","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-18a-40-12.16"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
