The New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development shall operate a New Jersey Pathways to Career Opportunities Initiative, the purpose of which shall be to provide students, workers, and job seekers with the career pathways they need to pursue promising new careers and opportunities; to strengthen career pathways partnerships between county colleges and employers, primary and secondary schools, vocational technical high schools, four-year institutions of higher education, unions, and community-based organizations; and to ensure that employers have access to a highly skilled workforce to meet critical labor market needs.\nb.\tThe New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development may establish Centers of Workforce Innovation that offer career pathways in areas that include, but are not limited to, the following:\n(1)\tpatient care;\n(2)\thealthcare technology and administration;\n(3)\tdirect support;\n(4)\tmanufacturing production and engineering;\n(5)\tsupply chain logistics;\n(6)\tdata science;\n(7)\tcybersecurity;\n(8)\tprogram and software development;\n(9)\tresearch and development;\n(10) renewable energy; and\n(11) construction.\nc.\tThe Centers of Workforce Innovation shall:\n(1)\tdevelop curriculum specific to each career pathway, which shall be made publicly available;\n(2)\tprovide students with the instruction and skills necessary to gain employment in a career pathway field;\n(3)\tpromote the use of Community College Opportunity Grants and other State and federal financial aid to support promotion along the pathways, including for incumbent workers; and\n(4)\tpromote the expansion of apprenticeship and other work-based learning opportunities for students.\nd.\tThe Centers of Workforce Innovation shall collaborate with industry leaders and educational partners across the State to expand economic mobility opportunity and drive economic growth.\nL.2025, c.374, s.2.","path":["TITLE 18A EDUCATION"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"fe8d451d2c703bbea5bb1549494b1202cba06aeeef4b35c176aedfdce0e9b074","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-18a-64a-92","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-18a-64e-12"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
