Stat. § 19:32-26.5","heading":"Actions prior to expiration of suspension.","body":"3.\tWithin 60 days prior to the expiration of the suspension provided for by section 2 of P.L.2013, c.17 (C.19:32-26.4), the governing body of a participating county shall undertake the following actions:\na.\tThe governing body shall prepare a report in writing for the public and the Secretary of State on the impact of the suspension of the office of the superintendent of elections and the office of the deputy superintendent of elections during the three-year period of the suspension with respect to:\n(1)\tthe operation and administration of State, county, municipal, school, special and federal elections;\n(2)\tthe maintenance and distribution of voting machines;\n(3)\tthe administration of voter registration in the county; and\n(4)\tthe cost of conducting elections in the county.\nThe report shall be made public and submitted to the secretary no later than the 45th day following the expiration of the suspension.\nb.\tThe governing body shall decide whether to adopt an ordinance or resolution, as appropriate, within 60 days prior to the expiration of the suspension, with the adoption to be effective on the date of the expiration of the suspension, to either:\n(1)\tabolish the office of the superintendent of elections and the office of the deputy superintendent of elections; or\n(2)\tre-establish such offices as they existed prior to the suspension.\nL.2013, c.17, s.3.","path":["TITLE 19 ELECTIONS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"8615d4a0b93744ab7c8f757cf2e97bf2f8ea261e5eb0068bf97879bb0b6b02d9","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-19-32-26.4","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-19-32-26.6"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
