Stat. § 24:5-9","heading":"Confectionery adulterations","body":"For the purposes of this subtitle, confectionery shall be deemed adulterated  if it bears or contains any alcohol, or nonnutritive article or substance  except harmless coloring, or if a coal-tar color one from a batch which has  been certified under the Federal Act, harmless flavoring, harmless resinous  glaze not in excess of   4/10   of 1%, natural gum and pectin; provided, that  this paragraph shall not apply to any confectionery by reason of its containing  less than 5% by volume of alcohol or to any chewing gum by reason of its  containing harmless nonnutritive masticatory substances.\nAmended by L.1939, c. 320, p. 777, s. 20, eff.
