Stat. § 26:2-103.4","heading":"Hospital, birthing center to provide for newborn screening for hearing loss.","body":"4. \tEvery hospital that provides inpatient maternity services and every birthing center licensed in the State pursuant to P.L.1971, c.136 (C.26:2H-1 et seq.) shall be required to provide for newborn screening for hearing loss for all newborns born at the facility.  The hospital or birthing center shall file a plan with the department, in a manner and on forms prescribed by the commissioner, detailing how the hospital or birthing center will implement the newborn hearing screening requirements established pursuant to this act.  The plan shall include, at a minimum, the following:\na.\tthe electrophysiologic screening measure to be performed;\nb.\tthe qualifications of the personnel designated to perform the electrophysiologic screening measure;\nc.\tguidelines for the provision of follow-up services for newborns identified as having or being at risk of developing a hearing loss;\nd.\tthe educational services to be provided to the parents of newborns identified as having or being at risk for developing a hearing loss; and\ne.\tthe protocol to be followed to ensure the confidentiality of any patient identifying information furnished to the department for the purposes of the central registry established pursuant to this act.\nL.2001,c.373,s.4.","path":["TITLE 26 HEALTH AND VITAL STATISTICS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"3e2d39bb9be452c1b74642446d53d6558a24683194da5df3df55fd662097a9fc","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-26-2-103.3","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-26-2-103.5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
