The New Jersey Office on Minority and Multicultural Health shall study the effects of racial and ethnic disparities on the sexual and reproductive health of African-American women.\nThe purpose of the study shall be to:\n(1)\tidentify Statewide and regional trends, patterns, and racial and ethnic disparities in adverse health outcomes, and medical, non-medical, and system-related factors that may affect the sexual and reproductive health of African-American women;\n(2)\treview the extent to which the effects of racial and ethnic disparities on the sexual and reproductive health of African-American women in a geographic area indicate the need to increase access to health care services among racial and ethnic populations in that area; and\n(3)\tidentify ways to reduce or eliminate racial and ethnic disparities that affect the sexual and reproductive health of African-American women.\nb.\tIn conducting the study, the office may seek the advice of persons specializing in the fields of women's health, minority health advocacy, or other related fields.\nc.\tWithin one year after the date of enactment of this act, the  office shall prepare and submit to the Governor and, pursuant to section 2 of P.L.1991, c.164 (C.52:14-19.1), to the Legislature, a report containing the study's findings concerning the effects of racial and ethnic disparities on the sexual and reproductive health of African-American women and recommendations for legislative or other actions that can be undertaken to:\n(1)\timprove the sexual and reproductive health of African-American women in this State;\n(2)\treduce or eliminate racial and ethnic disparities that affect the sexual and reproductive health of African-American women; and\n(3)\tincrease access to high quality health care services among African-American women in the following priority areas: childbirth; breast, cervical, and ovarian cancer screening; HIV/AIDS; hepatitis C; and other sexually transmitted diseases.\nd.\tThe office may prepare and submit additional reports when the  office deems it appropriate, and each report, with the exception of the first report prepared under this section, shall additionally identify the extent to which the  office's prior recommendations have been successfully implemented in practice and the apparent impact that the implementation of such recommended changes has had on the sexual and reproductive health of African-American women in the preceding years.\nL.2019, c.497, s.1.","path":["TITLE 26 HEALTH AND VITAL STATISTICS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"a00b34c1a12b135d48f0d266fb68bbac66a503efc1ce9f212c511f83c859263b","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-26-2-162","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-26-2-162.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
