As used in this section, \"health care facility\" means the same as defined in subsection b. of section 3 of P.L.2023, c.48 (C.2C:12-3.1).\nb.\tA health care facility shall prominently display a written notice in a conspicuous public location that contains the following or substantially similar statement: \"It is a crime to assault a health care professional, any volunteer working for a health care professional or working at a health care facility, any supportive services staff member working for a health care professional or working at a health care facility, or any employee of a health care professional or a health care facility while the health care professional, volunteer, supportive services staff member, or employee is performing official duties.  Any person who assaults a health care professional, volunteer, supportive services staff member, or employee in violation of this prohibition shall be subject to a fine, imprisonment, or both under the New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice, N.J.S.2C:1-1 et seq.\"\nc.\tThe Commissioner of Health may adopt rules and regulations, in accordance with the \"Administrative Procedure Act,\" P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.), as are necessary to effectuate the provisions of this section.\nL.2023, c.48, s.6.","path":["TITLE 26 HEALTH AND VITAL STATISTICS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"cd6995ee87e10789b788f5b42ff510b9c2855cf6d96b6eb70ed22f192414b73e","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-26-2h-5.23","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-26-2h-5.24"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
