Stat. § 26:2T-2","heading":"Written guidance for screening.","body":"2.\tThe Commissioner of Health shall provide written guidance regarding screening for the hepatitis C virus to licensed physicians and public health officers which reflects current and accepted standards of medical and public health practice, consistent with the recommendations of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and encourages appropriate screening and diagnosis of all persons at high risk for hepatitis C infection as defined by the federal centers, including, but not limited to:\n(1)\tveterans of the United States armed forces;\n(2)\twomen who underwent a caesarian section or a premature delivery prior to 1990;\n(3)\tpersons who received blood or blood products prior to 1992;\n(4)\tpersons who received an organ or tissue transplant prior to 1990;\n(5)\tpersons who have received invasive cosmetic procedures, including body piercing and tattooing;\n(6)\tpersons who have a history of multiple sexually transmitted diseases or multiple partners;\n(7)\tpersons with a history of intravenous drug use; and\n(8)\tsuch other categories of persons at high risk for hepatitis C infection as may be determined by the commissioner.\nL.1998, c.116, s.2; amended 2012, c.17, s.306.","path":["TITLE 26 HEALTH AND VITAL STATISTICS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"c8d1ba7341dd922423862eea3735cc9afb60f897a20d42ac2ac8972b26d7c8d9","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-26-2t-1","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-26-2t-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
