The Commissioner of Health shall develop and maintain a firefighter cancer registry, which shall be a voluntary registry of firefighters to collect relevant history and occupational information from firefighters that can be linked to available cancer registry data collected by existing State cancer registries.\nb.\tThe commissioner shall seek to include the following information for each firefighter included in the firefighter cancer registry:\n(1)\tthe age and demographic information of the firefighter;\n(2)\tthe status of the firefighter as either a paid or volunteer firefighter;\n(3)\tthe number of years working as a firefighter;\n(4)\tthe number of fire incidents attended to by the firefighter, including the number of incidents involving a residential house fire, the number of incidents involving a commercial fire, and the number of incidents involving any other type of fire;\n(5)\twhether the firefighter's history includes smoking or drug use;\n(6)\trelevant physical examination and medical history information; and\n(7)\tany additional information that is deemed necessary by the commissioner.\nc.\tFor the purpose of developing and maintaining the firefighter registry established pursuant to this section, the commissioner shall consult experts with experience in developing and maintaining cancer registries, studying cancer incidence, diagnosing and treating cancer, and firefighting.\nL.2019, c.113, s.2.","path":["TITLE 26 HEALTH AND VITAL STATISTICS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"6ac3d81d1877e6779c74dc318122bbef21c8fe44c931c3e1644fb108ed855efd","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-26-2w-4","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-26-2w-6"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
