Stat. § 27:1A-80","heading":"Additional powers of commissioner.","body":"6.\tIn addition to any powers granted to the commissioner under this act or any other provision of law, the commissioner shall:\na.\tProvide interagency support, programmatic planning and policy recommendations, promote coordination and cooperation with and among State, multi-state, bi-state, federal and non-governmental agencies in matters affecting the New Jersey Marine Transportation System;\nb.\tEngage in public education on maritime issues;\nc.\tServe as the primary advisory body and lead agency for support of New Jersey's $50 billion maritime industry;\nd.\tParticipate in maritime-related technology research and development;\ne.\tInvestigate innovative dredged material management technologies and techniques to ensure continued growth of New Jersey's Marine Transportation System;\nf.\tAct as the local sponsor for agreements with State and federal agencies in support of dredging and dredging related projects;\ng.\tResearch, facilitate, and act as lead advisory body for grant funding opportunities which enhance and further the mission of the office;\nh.\tDevelop and maintain an interactive educational website on the department's Internet website;\ni.\tAct as advisor for State and federal entities and non-governmental entities involved in advancing the mission of the New Jersey Marine Transportation System;\nj.\tEngage in waterborne, dredging, and related infrastructure development projects which enhance the economic, environmental, and efficient nature of maritime and marine trades services;\nk.\tOperate, lease, or license a dredging processing facility, or contract for the design, construction, use, management or operation of any State dredging processing facility; and\nl.\tUndertake any additional actions as appropriate to advance the State's maritime roles and responsibilities.\nL.2001,c.429,s.6.","path":["TITLE 27 HIGHWAYS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"24e9193b1a59518641d5eac772240ce7c7cf2cd51d65573583512cff98effd6c","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-27-1a-79","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-27-1a-81"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
