Stat. § 27:5-12","heading":"Exceptions for certain other signs or devices.","body":"8.\tUnless otherwise provided for in P.L.1991, c.413 (C.27:5-5 et seq.), no permit shall be required for the use, maintenance, or erection of a sign or other device which is to be used solely for any of the following purposes:\na.\tto advertise exclusively for sale or rent the property upon which the sign or other device is located;\nb.\tfor notices required by law to be posted or displayed;\nc.\tfor any official sign established pursuant to the provisions of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways erected on any public highway by the public authority having jurisdiction over that public highway;\nd.\tfor signs which are not adjacent to an Interstate System or Primary System highway and which advertise activities conducted upon the property on which they are located;\ne.\tfor signs attached to street furniture that:\n(1)\tare located in areas that are not protected areas;\n(2)\thave been approved by the municipality in which they are located; and\n(3)\t comply with all applicable requirements of section 5 of P.L.1991, c.413 (C.27:5-9); or\nf.\tfor any sign erected or maintained by the commissioner.\nL.1991, c.413, s.8; amended 2019, c.495, s.2.","path":["TITLE 27 HIGHWAYS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"aefd8d31261187b5aabff3e4abb8203200145b1dcd894e2e5d96f099ae431b21","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-27-5-11","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-27-5-13"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
