Stat. § 2A:4-30.129","heading":"Bases for jurisdiction over nonresident.","body":"6.\tBases for jurisdiction over nonresident.\na.  In a proceeding to establish or enforce a support order or to determine parentage of a child, a tribunal of this State may exercise personal jurisdiction over a nonresident individual or the individual's guardian or conservator if:\n(1)\tthe individual is personally served with a summons or notice within this State;\n(2)\tthe individual submits to the jurisdiction of this State by consent in a record, by entering a general appearance, or by filing a responsive document having the effect of waiving any contest to personal jurisdiction;\n(3)\tthe individual resided with the child in this State;\n(4)\tthe individual resided in this State and provided prenatal expenses or support for the child;\n(5)\tthe child resides in this State as a result of the acts or directives of the individual;\n(6)\tthe individual engaged in sexual intercourse in this State and the child may have been conceived by that act of intercourse;\n(7)\tthere is any other basis consistent with the constitutions of this State and the United States for the exercise of personal jurisdiction.\nb.\tThe bases of personal jurisdiction set forth in subsection a. or in any other law of this State may not be used to acquire personal jurisdiction for a tribunal of this State to modify a child support order of another state unless the requirements of section 55 are met, or, in the case of a foreign support order, unless the requirements of section 59 are met.\nL.2016, c.1, s.6.","path":["TITLE 2A ADMINISTRATION OF CIVIL AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"b1f88c89f04879cefdc4249eae90f299c01eac125ae2ea6ca365dd055014b7f6","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-2a-4-30.128","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-2a-4-30.130"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
