Stat. § 2A:4-30.193","heading":"Foreign support agreement.","body":"70.\tForeign support agreement.\na.\tExcept as otherwise provided in subsections c. and d., a tribunal of this State shall recognize and enforce a foreign support agreement registered in this State.\nb.\tAn application or direct request for recognition and enforcement of a foreign support agreement shall be accompanied by:\n(1)\ta complete text of the foreign support agreement; and\n(2)\ta record stating that the foreign support agreement is enforceable as an order of support in the issuing country.\nc.\tA tribunal of this State may vacate the registration of a foreign support agreement only if, acting on its own motion, the tribunal finds that recognition and enforcement would be manifestly incompatible with public policy.\nd.\tIn a contest of a foreign support agreement, a tribunal of this State may refuse recognition and enforcement of the agreement if it finds:\n(1)\trecognition and enforcement of the agreement is manifestly incompatible with public policy;\n(2)\tthe agreement was obtained by fraud or falsification;\n(3)\tthe agreement is incompatible with a support order involving the same parties and having the same purpose in this State, another state, or a foreign country if the support order is entitled to recognition and enforcement under this act in this State; or\n(4)\tthe record submitted under subsection b. lacks authenticity or integrity.\ne.\tA proceeding for recognition and enforcement of a foreign support agreement shall be suspended during the pendency of a challenge to or appeal of the agreement before a tribunal of another state or a foreign country.\nL.2016, c.1, s.70.","path":["TITLE 2A ADMINISTRATION OF CIVIL AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"c8324cc0524a650942129b9ed88f3001ea25bc031e328330f999c6a2b2460de7","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-2a-4-30.192","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-2a-4-30.194"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
