The Department of Children and Families may establish, through purchase of service contracts with community-based organizations, at least one family preservation services program in each county in the State.  The program shall provide services to families whose children are at imminent risk of placement as determined by agencies authorized to place children, or whose children are being prepared for reunification.\nb.\tThe family preservation services program shall be based on the following objectives:\n(1)\tThe prevention of out-of-home placement by enhancing family functioning and problem solving;\n(2)\tThe development of appropriate crisis management and parenting skills;\n(3)\tThe provision of services to families, as needed, including transportation, emergency financial assistance for food, clothing and housing, family counseling and substance use disorder treatment; and\n(4)\tThe development of linkages with service networks and community resources.\nL.1993, c.157, s.3; amended 2006, c.47, s.148; 2023, c.177, s.99.","path":["TITLE 30 INSTITUTIONS AND AGENCIES"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"9171eaf2a4aeb44ea5757e160b896da2dea8f73f818f2576cc3c3dbbecb06461","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-30-4c-75","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-30-4c-77"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
