Stat. § 30:6D-27","heading":"Duties of director.","body":"5.\tIn addition to other functions, powers and duties vested in him by this act or any other law, the director shall:\na.\tProvide services for eligible persons with developmental disabilities by identifying appropriate programs to meet their needs and by facilitating the establishment of community-based services for these persons; except that if the most appropriate services are not immediately available, the director may provide an eligible person with a developmental disability with alternate services;\nb.\tEstablish procedures for the determination of eligibility for services pursuant to this act and ensure that statements of eligibility advise the applicant about the particular functional services deemed most appropriate for the training, habilitation, care and protection of that person with a developmental disability as of the time of the determination;\nc.\tEstablish liaison and cooperative agreements with other governmental departments and agencies which provide programs and services to persons with developmental disabilities to prevent duplication of services and encourage a continuum of care that is required by persons with developmental disabilities;\nd.\tEstablish standards for services that are provided for persons with developmental disabilities, which include the scope and quality of these services and which give full recognition to the unique problems and special needs associated with developmental disabilities;\ne.\tAdvise, consult and provide professional assistance to organized efforts by organizations, groups, associations and committees which work toward improving services and opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities; and\nf.\tSelect and retain the services of consultants whose advice is considered necessary to assist the division in obtaining information or developing plans and programs required for the performance of its duties and responsibilities pursuant to this act.\nL.195, c.145, s.5; amended 2010, c.50, s.54.","path":["TITLE 30 INSTITUTIONS AND AGENCIES"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"02be44b80ca77b2c3c0374e88488b758089889b79028e46813bee973604cef1b","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-30-6d-26","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-30-6d-27.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
