Stat. § 30:7E-1","heading":"Definitions relative to inmate health care","body":"1. \tAs used in sections 2 thru 6 of this act:\na. \t\"Commissioner\" means the Commissioner of the Department of Corrections.\nb. \t\"County\" includes any person acting pursuant to a contract with a county who provides services for which a county is entitled to reimbursement or a nominal fee under the provisions of this act.\nc. \t\"Covered person\" means a person who is covered by a plan for health benefits and expenses but not as an enrollee.\nd. \t\"Enrollee\" means the person who receives a certificate or other proof of coverage from a health insurance plan that covers the person for health benefits and expenses.\ne. \t\"Health insurance plan\" means any hospital and medical expense insurance policy; health, hospital or medical service corporation contract or certificate; or health maintenance organization subscriber contract or certificate or dental or vision plan.\nf. \t\"Inmate\" means a person sentenced to imprisonment, or ordered to pretrial or investigative detention, in a State correctional facility or county jail.\ng. \t\"State\" includes any person acting pursuant to a contract with the State who provides services for which the State is entitled to reimbursement or a nominal fee under the provisions of this act.\nL.1995,c.254,s.1.","path":["TITLE 30 INSTITUTIONS AND AGENCIES"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"b0d5367a8a58e39d98d2f4af3966ec544b189b31e3d728541e15a3587b2a632a","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-30-7d-1","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-30-7e-2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
