Stat. § 32:1-35.52a","heading":"Findings, declarations relative to remains of victims of September 11, 2001 terrorist attack.","body":"1.\tThe Legislature finds and declares that:\na.\tThe unprovoked attack on the United States carried out by international terrorists on September 11, 2001 against targets in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Arlington, Virginia resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent people, injury to countless others, and the disruption of innumerable lives.\nb.\tAmong the victims of this depraved act were civilian and government workers, military personnel, airline passengers and crew members, police officers, firefighters and paramedics, many of whom resided in this State.\nc.\tThe remains of many victims of the World Trade Center attacks were never located.\nd.\tThe ash from the World Trade Center site, which contains remains of the victims of September 11, 2001, has been held at Fresh Kills Landfill in Staten Island, New York.\ne.\tThis ash should be covered and placed in containers to eventually be transported to the World Trade Center site to become a part of the memorial that will be built at this location.\nf.\tIt is fitting and proper for the State to honor the victims of September 11, 2001 by returning their ashes to the site of a memorial at the World Trade Center in their honor.\nL.2003,c.198,s.1.","path":["TITLE 32 INTERSTATE AND PORT AUTHORITIES AND\t\t\t\tCOMMISSIONS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"da46578e6d6cc6eb4f51f3cefec7a046215fd029638f08153d65683fcafdaf7b","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-32-1-35.52","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-32-1-35.52b"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
