Stat. § 34:15-28.2","heading":"Powers of judges of compensation.","body":"1.\tIf any employer, insurer, claimant, or counsel to the employer, insurer, or claimant, or other party to a claim for compensation, fails to comply with any order of a judge of compensation or with the requirements of any statute or regulation regarding workers' compensation, a judge of compensation may, in addition to any other remedies provided by law:\na.\tImpose costs, simple interest on any moneys due, an additional assessment not to exceed 25% of moneys due for unreasonable payment delay, and reasonable legal fees, to enforce the order, statute or regulation;\nb.\tImpose additional fines and other penalties on parties or counsel in an amount not exceeding $5,000 for unreasonable delay, with the proceeds of the penalties paid into the Second Injury Fund;\nc.\tClose proofs, dismiss a claim or suppress a defense as to any party;\nd.\tExclude evidence or witnesses;\ne.\tHold a separate hearing on any issue of contempt and, upon a finding of contempt by the judge of compensation, the successful party or the judge of compensation may file a motion with the Superior Court for enforcement of those contempt proceedings; and\nf.\tTake other actions deemed appropriate by the judge of compensation with respect to the claim.\nL.2008, c.93, s.1.","path":["TITLE 34 LABOR AND WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"c131ba421006cb0c2bfd2acc8e0ff5a7df7f5c8ac91ff4d17db684eb6bfd101e","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-34-15-28.1","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-34-15-28.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
