Stat. § 34:15-90.2","heading":"Authority of Compensation Rating and Inspection Bureau.","body":"2.\tThe Compensation Rating and Inspection Bureau shall have authority to:\na.\tEnter into contracts as are necessary or proper to carry out the provisions and purposes of this act;\nb.\tSue or be sued, including taking any legal actions as may be necessary for recovery of any assessments;\nc.\tEstablish rules, conditions, and procedures for assessment of its members;\nd.\tAssess members in accordance with chapter 15 of Title 34 of the Revised Statutes;\ne.\tAppoint from among its members appropriate legal, actuarial, and other subcommittees of the governing committee as necessary to provide technical assistance in the operation of the bureau;\nf.\tEstablish and maintain rules, regulations and premium rates for workers' compensation and employers' liability insurance and equitably adjust the same, as far as practical, to the hazard of individual risks, by inspection by the bureau;\ng.\tAdopt means for assuring uniform and accurate audit of payrolls as they relate to policies of workers' compensation and employers' liability insurance by auditors, appointed by the bureau, or by such other means as the bureau may, with the approval of the commissioner, establish;\nh.\tFurnish upon request to any of its members or to any employer upon whose risks a rating has been promulgated by it, information as to such rating, including the method of its computation, and shall encourage employers to reduce the number and severity of accidents by adjusting premiums and rates through the use of credits and debits or other proper factors, under such uniform system of experience or other forms of merit rating as may be approved by the commissioner;\ni.\tPrepare and file, for the approval of the commissioner, and for the use by all of its members, any amendments to its policy forms and its system of classification of risks and premiums thereto, together with the basis rates and system of merit or schedule rating applicable to such insurance, as currently set forth in the New Jersey Workers' Compensation and Employers' Liability Insurance Manual;\nj.\tDevelop and submit, for the approval of the commissioner, any amendments to its rules of procedure as currently set forth in the New Jersey Workers' Compensation and Employers' Liability Insurance Manual;\nk.\tResolve disputes concerning the application of its rating system to specific cases, in accordance with the workers' compensation and employers' liability insurance policy and the bureau's rules of procedure, subject to appeal to the commissioner; and\nl.\tTake such other actions as may be reasonable and necessary to carry out its functions as provided in its approved rules of procedures, or as directed by the commissioner.\nL.2008, c.97, s.2.","path":["TITLE 34 LABOR AND WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"3445de0e51fd33689acb66f9c4d2117f75de533ccf24a4649130d3defbc02bc0","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-34-15-90.1","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-34-15-90.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
