Stat. § 39:11-11","heading":"Violations, penalties.","body":"A person who violates any provision of R.S.39:11-9 of this Title shall be fined not less than $25 nor more than $100 or be imprisoned not more than 90 days, or both.\nThe provisions of said section shall be enforced and all penalties for the violation thereof shall be recovered in accordance with the provisions of \"The Penalty Enforcement Law of 1999,\" P.L.1999, c.274 (C.2A:58-10 et seq.) and in addition to the provisions and remedies therein contained, the following provisions and remedies shall be applicable in any proceeding brought for a violation of any of the provisions of said section:\na.\tThe several municipal courts shall have jurisdiction of any such proceeding, in addition to the courts prescribed in \"The Penalty Enforcement Law of 1999\";\nb.\tThe complaint in any such proceeding may be made on information and belief by the commission, or any police or peace officer of any municipality, any county or the State;\nc.\tA warrant may issue in lieu of summons;\nd.\tAny police or peace officer shall be empowered to serve and execute process in any such proceeding;\ne.\tThe hearing in any such proceeding shall be without a jury;\nf.\tAny such proceeding may be brought in the name of the commission or in the name of the State of New Jersey; and\ng.\tAny sums received in payment of any fines imposed in any such proceeding shall be paid to the commission and shall be paid by it into the State treasury.\namended 1954, c.78; 1983, c.403, s.34; 2003, c.13, s.73; 2009, c.298, s.13.","path":["TITLE 39 MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC REGULATION"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"73d987ba3863357b907b17df314f8829b92c709da1655725b41fc4df77e52f8d","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-39-11-10","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-39-12-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
