A person commits a motor vehicle violation pursuant to this section if the person operates or amplifies a sound system, connected to or located within a motor vehicle, that violates the noise standards and any rules and regulations adopted pursuant to the \"Noise Control Act,\" P.L.1971, c.418 (C.13:1G-1 et seq.).\nb.\tA person convicted of a first motor vehicle violation pursuant to subsection a. of this section shall be subject to a fine of not less than $250 or more than $500 and shall not be assessed any motor vehicle penalty points pursuant to section 1 of P.L.1982, c.43 (C.39:5-30.5).\nc.\tA person convicted of a second motor vehicle violation pursuant to subsection a. of this section shall be subject to a fine of not less than $500 or more than $750 and shall not be assessed any motor vehicle penalty points pursuant to section 1 of P.L.1982, c.43 (C.39:5-30.5).\nd.\tA person convicted of a third or subsequent motor vehicle violation pursuant to subsection a. of this section shall be subject to a fine of not less than $750 or more than $1,000 and shall be assessed two motor vehicle penalty points pursuant to section 1 of P.L.1982, c.43 (C.39:5-30.5).\nL.2023, c.135.","path":["TITLE 39 MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC REGULATION"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"1b7ec63f68cffb30c72b601d7d2c0eb7ad1e7ed8bcff90a1d074ddb27586bae5","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-39-3-69","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-39-3-70"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
