Stat. § 39:4-10.11","heading":"Roller skaters, skateboarders to keep to right of roadway; exceptions.","body":"7.\tEvery person operating any roller skates or skateboard upon a roadway shall ride as near to the right side of the roadway as practicable, exercising due care when passing a standing vehicle or one proceeding in the same direction; provided, however, that any person may move to the left under any of the following situations:\n(a)\tto make a left turn from a left-turn lane or pocket;\n(b)\tto avoid debris, drains or other hazardous conditions that make it impracticable to ride at the right side of the roadway;\n(c)\tto pass a slower moving vehicle;\n(d) to occupy any available lane when traveling at the same speed as other traffic;\n(e)\tto travel no more than two abreast when traffic is not impeded.\nPersons operating any roller skates or skateboards upon a roadway may travel no more than two abreast when traffic is not impeded, but otherwise shall ride in single file, except on paths or parts of roadways set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles, roller skates or skateboards.\nL.1997,c.411,s.7.","path":["TITLE 39 MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC REGULATION"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"22379d0983bc63cf41945e3091776638833dc384856fd2d96995adb95d05cfd4","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-39-4-10.10b","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-39-4-10.12"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
