The New Jersey One Health Task Force shall consist of 13 members as follows:\n(1)\tthe Secretary of Agriculture, or the secretary's designee, who shall serve ex officio;\n(2)\tthe Commissioner of Environmental Protection, or the commissioner's designee, who shall serve ex officio;\n(3)\tthe Commissioner of Health, or the commissioner's designee, who shall serve ex officio;\n(4)\t10 public members to be appointed by the Governor, as follows:\n(a)\tone person representing the medical community, who is a medical practitioner licensed to practice in the State;\n(b)\ttwo people who are veterinarians licensed or approved to practice in the State by the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, one of whom shall have expertise, knowledge, and experience with farm animals;\n(c)\tone person with expertise, knowledge, and experience in medical research;\n(d)\tone person with expertise, knowledge, and experience in zoonotic diseases;\n(e)\ttwo people with expertise, knowledge, and experience in epidemiology or biomedical sciences; and\n(f)\tthree people representing the State's academic community with expertise, knowledge, and experience in public health, ecology, natural resources, or environmental and biological sciences.\nb.\tEach public member of the task force shall serve for a term of four years, except that, of the members first appointed, two appointees shall serve for terms of four years, three appointees shall serve for terms of three years, three appointees shall serve for terms of two years, and two appointees shall serve for terms of one year.  Each member shall hold office for the term of appointment, and until the member's successor is appointed and qualified.\nAny vacancy in the task force membership shall be filled for the unexpired term, in the same manner provided for the original appointment.  Members are eligible for reappointment to the task force.\nc.\tThe task force shall organize as soon as practicable after the appointment of a majority of its members, and shall select a chairperson and a vice-chairperson from among its members, as well as a secretary who need not be a member of the task force.  A majority of the membership of the task force shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of task force business.  The task force may meet and hold hearings at the place or places as it shall designate.\nd.\tThe members of the task force shall serve without compensation, but may be reimbursed for travel and other necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties, within the limits of funds appropriated or otherwise made available to the task force for its purposes.\ne.\tThe Department of Agriculture shall provide professional and clerical staff to the task force as may be necessary for the task force's purposes.
