Stat. § 44:12-2","heading":"Local units; powers.","body":"2.\tIn order to facilitate cooperation with the Federal Government in carrying out the programs contemplated by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 or related federal legislation, every local unit is authorized:\n(a)\tTo accept from the Federal Government, subject to terms and conditions appertaining thereto, grants of funds, equipment, supplies, material and other property; and\n(b)\tto hold, use, expend, deal with, employ, distribute and dispose of such funds, equipment, supplies, material and other property; and\n(c)\tto appropriate money; and\n(d)\tto enter into contracts and agreements with the federal and state governments, other local units or private organizations; and\n(e)\tto engage in such activities and to do such other acts and things as may be necessary or convenient to carry out the powers given in this act.\nL.1966,c.13,s.2; amended 1981, c.531, s.1; 2005, c.354, s.33.","path":["TITLE 44 POOR"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"a4e802b9c75b19e3feb5305a4b17297749e48e188fa9176426903a68ab3da7ce","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-44-12-1","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-44-12-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
