The State Board of Psychological Examiners shall require each person licensed as a practicing psychologist, as a condition for biennial license renewal pursuant to section 1 of P.L.1972, c.108 (C.45:1-7), to complete 40 credits of continuing psychology education, four credits of which shall be educational programs or topics related to domestic violence.\nb.\tThe board shall:\n(1)\tEstablish standards for continuing psychology education, including the nature of qualifying experience and amount of applicable credits for such qualifying experience, and the subject matter and content of courses of study; and\n(2)\tAccredit education programs offering credit toward continuing psychology education requirements or recognize national or State organizations that may accredit education programs.\nc.\tThe board may, in its discretion, waive requirements for continuing education as set forth in subsection a. of this section on an individual basis for reasons of hardship such as illness or disability, retirement of license, or other good cause.  A waiver shall apply only to the current biennial renewal period at the time of board issuance.\nd.\tThe board shall only approve programs that are provided on a nondiscriminatory basis.\ne.\tPrior to license renewal, each licensee shall submit to the board proof of completion of the required number of hours of continuing psychology education.\nf.\tThe continuing education required pursuant to this section shall include at least one credit of educational programs or topics concerning prescription opioid drugs, including the risks and signs of opioid abuse, addiction, and diversion.\nL.2015, c.131, s.1; amended 2017, c.341, s.7.","path":["TITLE 45 PROFESSIONS AND OCCUPATIONS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"16929022d6a8e7d49ae0b6b87d8288bb1cb93ada413f3eaf9249b38f269ca497","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-45-14b-46","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-45-14b-48"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
