To be eligible for certification as a general or residential real estate appraiser, an applicant shall fulfill the following requirements:\n(1)\tBe at least 18 years of age;\n(2)\tBe of good moral character;\n(3)\tHave a high school diploma or its equivalent;\n(4)\tHave real estate appraisal experience that meets the standards for experience prescribed by the Appraisal Qualifications Board of the Appraisal Foundation for the type of certificate sought;\n(5)\tHave successfully completed a course of study in real estate appraising prescribed by the board and conducted by an approved education provider, which course of study shall meet the standards for the course of study issued by the Appraisal Qualifications Board of the Appraisal Foundation for the type of certificate sought; and\n(6)\tSuccessfully complete a real estate appraiser certification examination administered by the board.\nb.\tThe board shall adopt, as an option for applicants to fulfill the requirements of paragraph (4) of subsection a. of this section, the practical applications of the real estate appraisal program established by the Appraisal Qualifications Board of the Appraisal Foundation.\nL.1991, c.68, s.11; amended 1991, c.408, s.6; 2017, c.72, s.28; 2025, c.230, s.2.","path":["TITLE 45 PROFESSIONS AND OCCUPATIONS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"1b6ed4f83d723e17be407e1f2830b99eeacd132fe4c0bcb04fde6e54f18ad9bc","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-45-14f-10.2","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-45-14f-14"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
