Not less than 50 percent of the continuing education courses of study that a broker, broker-salesperson, or salesperson are required to complete as a condition for license renewal shall be comprised of one or more of the following core topics:\n(1)\tAgency;\n(2)\tDisclosure;\n(3)\tLegal issues;\n(4)\tEthics, which shall not be less than two hours;\n(5)\tFair housing;\n(6)\tRules and regulations;\n(7)\tReal estate licensee safety;\n(8)\tFinancial literacy and planning; and\n(9)\tAny other core topics that the New Jersey Real Estate Commission may prescribe by rule.\nIn no event shall the commission require that courses in these core topics comprise more than 60 percent of the total continuing education hours required for the renewal of any license.\nb.\tIn the case of continuing education courses and programs, each hour of instruction shall be equivalent to one credit.\nc.\tNotwithstanding the provisions of subsection a. of this section, the commission shall require that the continuing education courses of study that a broker, broker-salesperson, or salesperson are required to complete as a condition for license renewal shall be comprised of at least one hour on the core topic of fair housing and housing discrimination during each biennial license term.\nd.\tNotwithstanding the provisions of subsection a. of this section, the commission shall require that a continuing education course on agency be completed by a broker, broker-salesperson, and salesperson as a condition for license renewal during each biennial license term.\nL.2009, c.238, s.27; amended 2018, c.71, s.15; 2019, c.177, s.2; 2024, c.32, s.16.","path":["TITLE 45 PROFESSIONS AND OCCUPATIONS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"f8fd34508947dd81f6d7dcbc2d0cba2fdb6a7617eacfd78964b5cc118be0ec28","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-45-15-16.2d","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-45-15-16.2f"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
