Stat. § 46:30D-3","heading":"Definitions relative to unclaimed property on loan to a museum.","body":"3.\tAs used in this act:\n\"Claimant\" means an individual, association, partnership, corporation, trust, estate, or other entity, other than the lender of record, claiming or establishing title to or an interest in property that is on loan to a museum.\n\"Lender\" means an individual, association, partnership, corporation, trust, estate, or other entity having title to or an interest in property on loan to a museum.\n\"Loan\" means a deposit of property with a museum for a specified or unspecified period of time that does not involve a transfer of title to or interest in the property.\n\"Museum\" means a public or private nonprofit agency or institution, and any agency or institution of the State or a political subdivision of the State, located in the State of New Jersey that:\nis organized on a permanent basis;\nis operated primarily for cultural, aesthetic, educational, scientific, or historic preservation purposes;\nutilizes a professional staff;\nowns, borrows, cares for, exhibits, studies, archives, or catalogues tangible animate or inanimate objects; and\nmakes them available to the public on a regular basis.\nThe term \"museum\" includes, but is not limited to:  art, history, science, and natural history museums; educational institutions; historical societies; historic sites; landmarks; parks; archives; monuments; botanical gardens; arboreta; zoos; nature centers; planetaria; aquaria; libraries; and technology centers.\n\"Property\" means tangible animate or inanimate objects.\nL.2011, c.109, s.3.","path":["TITLE 46 PROPERTY"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"86a19d2b7e6124fd39fa4cf230b47efc74562dc7bbc40b253ad510ddbf1fa905","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-46-30d-2","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-46-30d-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
