Stat. § 48:2-96","heading":"Function of office of BPU Business Ombudsman.","body":"5.\tIt shall be the function of the office to:\na.\tAssist businesses with obtaining information concerning energy costs in response to requests from businesses;\nb.\tMonitor the impact of State energy costs on business projects and activities and on business decisions to relocate to this State, and identify and recommend energy cost reduction strategies including State programs, subsidies and grants that may be available for businesses to reduce their energy costs;\nc.\tParticipate in the application process for State energy programs, subsidies and grants on behalf of a business, if in the BPU Business Ombudsman's judgment, such participation may be necessary to assist a business in order for a project or activity to proceed;\nd.\tWork with board staff to assist in creating public information programs designed to acquaint and educate businesses and the public about the duties and responsibilities of the office; and\ne.\tInterface with energy marketers seeking to provide service in this State and, where appropriate, work to bring them together  with businesses concerned about energy costs.\nL.2005,c.215,s.5.","path":["TITLE 48 PUBLIC UTILITIES"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"c2b851eda789996f20aa0addd6dbe4107ebcad73aa03b3225d0379b48891a841","source_id":"us-nj","stale":false,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-48-2-95","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-48-2-97"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
