Stat. § 5:5-44.4","heading":"Determination of organizations to receive moneys by Council on Developmental Disabilities.","body":"3.\tThe New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities shall determine annually which organizations in New Jersey shall receive the moneys to be distributed pursuant to section 2 of P.L.1977, c.200 (C.5:5-44.3); provided, however, that such organizations shall be nonprofit organizations which expend funds for direct services in full-time programs to New Jersey residents with developmental disabilities, and provided further, however, that each such organization shall be affiliated with a national organization of the same type and purpose.  As used herein, \"developmental disability\" means a disability which (1) is attributable to:\n(a)\tan intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, or autism;\n(b)\tany other condition found to be closely related to an intellectual disability because such condition results in impairment of general intellectual functioning or adaptive behavior similar to impairment resulting from an intellectual disability or which requires treatment and services similar to those required for an intellectual disability; or\n(c)\tdyslexia resulting from a disability described in subparagraphs (a) and (b);\n(2)\toriginates before such person attains age 18;\n(3)\thas continued or can be expected to continue indefinitely; and\n(4)\tconstitutes a substantial impediment to such person's ability to function in society.\nL.1977, c.200, s.3; amended 2010, c.50, s.2; 2017, c.131, s.4.","path":["TITLE 5 AMUSEMENTS, PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS AND MEETINGS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"4949cf3c11aa6f0e47f68c9e65213f99ea5c2d90761c161c3189ad5749944cad","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-5-5-44.3","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-5-5-44.5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
