The prosecutor of each county shall collect, record, and report data to the Attorney General concerning a crime or, in the case of a juvenile, an act which if committed by an adult would constitute a crime involving the use of a firearm, as defined in subsection f. of N.J.S.2C:39-1, in which the firearm was discharged but such discharge did not result in bodily injury.\nb.\tThe prosecutor of each county shall provide information to the Attorney General regarding criminal complaints pursuant to subsection a. of this section, which shall include:\n(1)\tthe complaint number;\n(2)\tthe date and time of the incident;\n(3)\tthe location of the incident, including the county, municipality, and address;\n(4)\tthe statutory citation and degree of all offenses charged; and\n(5)\twhether the defendant lawfully or unlawfully used the firearm subject to the charge.\nThe prosecutor of each county shall provide the information required in this subsection for criminal complaints, regardless of whether the case is prosecuted, dismissed, or downgraded.\nL.2025, c.365.","path":["TITLE 52 STATE GOVERNMENT, DEPARTMENTS AND OFFICERS"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"4e15dbf7313fae27b0341d0feee8963b8f71ad26894cab7bfdfa0d324ab9ebbc","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-52-17b-4.18","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-52-17b-4.20"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
