Stat. § 58:12A-12.3a","heading":"Definitions.","body":"1.\tAs used in P.L.2025, c.144 (C.58:12A-12.3a et al.):\n\"Certified point-of-use water filter\" means a filter that is installed at the point where water is dispensed from an outlet, and which is certified by a body accredited by the American National Standards Institute National Accreditation Board as satisfying the NSF/ANSI 53-2019 standard for lead reduction or any subsequently adopted standard that is equivalent to, or more stringent than, the NSF/ANSI 53-2019 standard for lead reduction.\n\"Customer\" means a property owner or lessee who receives, and is required to pay, a water utility bill for water being supplied to the property.\n\"Lead action level\" means the standard for lead in drinking water established by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, or a more stringent standard adopted by the department pursuant to the \"Safe Drinking Water Act,\" P.L.1977, c.224 (C.58:12A-1 et seq.).\n\"Lead service line\" means the same as the term is defined in section 2 of P.L.2021, c.183 (C.58:12A-41).\n\"Non-paying consumer\" means the lessee or primary occupant of institutional, commercial, or residential space in a system's service area, who does not receive, and is not required to pay, a water utility bill for water supplied to the property.\n\"Public water system\" means the same as the term is defined in section 3 of P.L.1977, c.224 (C.58:12A-3).\n\"Seasonal rental unit\" means a residential rental unit that is leased for a duration of fewer than six months each year.\n\"Service line\" means the same as the term is defined in section 2 of P.L.2021, c.183 (C.58:12A-41).\nL.2025, c.144, s.1.","path":["TITLE 58 WATERS AND WATER SUPPLY"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"a17c390d3b076fdcb07680f6fd1bf5c6baef06717d137d7c8aaebaa077d39c9a","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-58-12a-12.3","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-58-12a-12.3b"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
