{"data":{"id":"us-nm/1-9-7.7","jurisdiction":"us-nm","citation":"1-9-7.7","heading":"Voting systems; technical requirements.","body":"Voting systems certified for use in state elections shall:\nA. have a unique embedded internal serial number for audit purposes;\nB. be supplied with a dust- and moisture-proof cover for transportation and storage purposes;\nC. if the net weight of the system, or aggregate of voting device parts, is over twenty pounds, have self-contained wheels so that the system can be easily rolled by one person on rough pavement and can roll through a standard thirty-inch door frame;\nD. be a stand-alone, non-networked election system such that all pre-election, election day and post-election events and activities can be recorded and retained in each device;\nE. employ scalable technology allowing easy enhancements that meet United States election assistance commission standards and state law;\nF. have ancillary equipment, such as printers, power sources, microprocessors and switch and indicator matrices, that is installed internally or is modular and transportable;\nG. display publicly the number of ballots processed;\nH. be able to print:\n(1) an alphanumeric printout of the contests, candidates and vote totals when the polls are opened so that the poll workers can verify that the counters for each candidate are on zero;\n(2) an alphanumeric printout of the contests, candidates and vote totals at the close of the polls, which printouts shall contain the system serial number and public counter total; and\n(3) as many copies of the alphanumeric printouts as necessary to satisfy state law; and\nI. include a feature to allow reports to be sent to an electronic data file.","path":["Chapter 1 - Elections","ARTICLE 9 Voting Machines"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18502/index.do","current_through":"2026-05-20","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:19Z","sha256":"e8aac0bfe68e154dd4b4aeb9b98c612eb7abd9e7ae6339a8789a9ccab3b2a651","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/1-9-7.6","next":"us-nm/1-9-7.8"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
