{"data":{"id":"us-nm/11-6-5","jurisdiction":"us-nm","citation":"11-6-5","heading":"Powers of the council.","body":"The council shall have all the powers necessary to carry out the purposes and provisions of the New Mexico Community Assistance Act, including but not limited to the power to:\nA. develop and oversee the administration of community assistance programs;\nB. adopt, amend and repeal, in accordance with the provisions of the State Rules Act [Chapter 14, Article 4 NMSA 1978] and with technical assistance from the staff of the division, all regulations necessary to administer and enforce the provisions of the rules of the New Mexico Community Assistance Act;\nC. apply to any appropriate agency of the United States for participation in and for receipt of aid from any program designed to assist local community infrastructure development;\nD. oversee the administration of federal and other funds which are received, controlled or disbursed for the purposes of carrying out the provisions of the community assistance program;\nE. coordinate and mobilize assistance and funding resources in regard to the construction, extension or repair of projects;\nF. coordinate with, assist and seek input from political subdivisions, community organizations and civic groups;\nG. make and enter into all contracts and agreements necessary or incidental to its duties and the execution of its powers under the New Mexico Community Assistance Act;\nH. do any and all things necessary or convenient to carry out its purposes and exercise the powers given and granted in the New Mexico Community Assistance Act; and\nI. disburse and oversee the administration of any other funds appropriated to the council or as directed by the legislature.","path":["Chapter 11 - Intergovernmental Agreements and Authorities","ARTICLE 6 New Mexico Community Assistance"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18511/index.do","current_through":"2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:19Z","sha256":"ba7316c75bed51a6d9041ab70c0655d445e07ab6033af75ab269f67c63f365df","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/11-6-4.1","next":"us-nm/11-6-5.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
