While an emergency declaration is in effect, the homeland security and emergency management department may limit, restrict or otherwise regulate:\n(1) the duration of practice by volunteer health practitioners;\n(2) the geographical areas in which volunteer health practitioners may practice;\n(3) the types of volunteer health practitioners who may practice; and\n(4) any other matters necessary to coordinate effectively the provision of health or veterinary services during the emergency.\nB. An order issued pursuant to Subsection A of this section may take effect immediately, without prior notice or comment.\nC. A host entity that uses volunteer health practitioners to provide health or veterinary services in this state shall:\n(1) consult and coordinate its activities with the homeland security and emergency management department to the extent practicable to provide for the efficient and effective use of volunteer health practitioners; and\n(2) comply with any laws other than the Uniform Emergency Volunteer Health Practitioners Act relating to the management of emergency health or veterinary services, including the Emergency Medical Services Act [Chapter 24, Article 10B NMSA 1978] and the All Hazard Emergency Management Act [12-10-1 to 12-10-10 NMSA 1978].","path":["Chapter 12 - Miscellaneous Public Affairs Matters","ARTICLE 12A Uniform Emergency Volunteer Health Practitioners Act"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18512/index.do","current_through":"2025-06-20","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:19Z","sha256":"c638ea96ef037b6519073349799d6972858ea91e98bf71f544221d2179747ab0","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/12-12a-3","next":"us-nm/12-12a-5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
