{"data":{"id":"us-nm/24-25-3","jurisdiction":"us-nm","citation":"24-25-3","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in the New Mexico Telehealth Act:\nA. \"health care provider\" means a person licensed to provide health care to patients in New Mexico, including:\n(1) an optometrist;\n(2) a chiropractic physician;\n(3) a dentist;\n(4) a physician;\n(5) a podiatric physician;\n(6) an osteopathic physician;\n(7) a physician assistant;\n(8) a certified nurse practitioner;\n(9) a physical therapist;\n(10) an occupational therapist;\n(11) a speech-language pathologist;\n(12) a doctor of oriental medicine;\n(13) a nutritionist;\n(14) a psychologist;\n(15) a certified nurse-midwife;\n(16) a clinical nurse specialist;\n(17) a registered nurse;\n(18) a dental hygienist;\n(19) a pharmacist;\n(20) a licensed social worker;\n(21) a licensed counselor;\n(22) a community health representative;\n(23) a licensed athletic trainer;\n(24) a certified peer support worker; or\n(25) any other health care professional who has received a medicaid provider identification number from the health care authority;\nB. \"originating site\" means a place where a patient may receive health care via telehealth. An originating site may include:\n(1) a licensed inpatient center;\n(2) an ambulatory surgical or treatment center;\n(3) a skilled nursing center;\n(4) a residential treatment center;\n(5) a home health agency;\n(6) a diagnostic laboratory or imaging center;\n(7) an assisted living center;\n(8) a school-based health program;\n(9) a mobile clinic;\n(10) a mental health clinic;\n(11) a rehabilitation or other therapeutic health setting;\n(12) the patient's residence;\n(13) a federally qualified health center; or\n(14) a community health center; and\nC. \"telehealth\" means the use of electronic information, imaging and communication technologies, including interactive audio, video, data communications as well as store-and-forward technologies, to provide and support health care delivery, diagnosis, consultation, treatment, transfer of medical data and education.","path":["Chapter 24 - Health and Safety","ARTICLE 25 New Mexico Telehealth Act"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18524/index.do","current_through":"2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:19Z","sha256":"2eba50c42de78317e8ed1c4dc194698b093dc400835547478a02f07f4afa535e","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/24-25-2","next":"us-nm/24-25-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
