{"data":{"id":"us-nm/24-36-2","jurisdiction":"us-nm","citation":"24-36-2","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in the Doula Credentialing and Access Act:\nA. \"applicant\" means a person applying to be credentialed or recredentialed as a doula;\nB. \"authority\" means the health care authority;\nC. \"credentialed doula\" means a doula to whom the department has issued a credential to allow the doula to enroll as a medicaid provider;\nD. \"department\" means the department of health;\nE. \"doula\" means a trained, nonmedical professional who provides services, including health education, advocacy or physical, emotional or social support, to a person during the pre-conception period, pregnancy, childbirth or the postpartum period to promote positive health outcomes;\nF. \"eligible person\" means a person who:\n(1) is eligible for medicaid; and\n(2) elects to receive services from a credentialed doula, while pregnant or during the first twelve months of the postpartum period, regardless of the person's birth outcome;\nG. \"freestanding birth center\" means a birth center licensed by the authority;\nH. \"hospital\" means a hospital licensed by the authority; and\nI. \"secretary\" means the secretary of health.","path":["Chapter 24 - Health and Safety","ARTICLE 36 Doula Credentialing and Access"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18524/index.do","current_through":"2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:19Z","sha256":"335fe2fc515acbea66ee23ee845311e27c53cf90c60a1cbad276f2281127e45e","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/24-36-1","next":"us-nm/24-36-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
