{"data":{"id":"us-nm/29-4a-3","jurisdiction":"us-nm","citation":"29-4A-3","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in the Peace Officers', New Mexico Mounted Patrol Members' and Reserve Police Officers' Survivors Supplemental Benefits Act:\nA. \"fund\" means the peace officers', New Mexico mounted patrol members' and reserve police officers' survivors fund;\nB. \"New Mexico mounted patrol\" means units or troops officered and manned to assist with law enforcement pursuant to the provisions of Sections 29-6-1 and 29-6-4 NMSA 1978, Subsection A of Section 29-6-5 NMSA 1978 and Section 29-6-6 NMSA 1978;\nC. \"peace officer\" means any full-time salaried and commissioned or certified law enforcement officer of a police or sheriff's department or a conservation officer of the department of game and fish [department of wildlife] as used in Chapter 17 NMSA 1978 that is part of or administered by the state or any political subdivision of the state;\nD. \"reserve police officer\" means a volunteer or a temporary or part-time employee of a state or local law enforcement agency who is accepted by that agency as a reserve law enforcement officer after receiving a background check and training as needed by that agency and who is not a member of the New Mexico mounted patrol; and\nE. \"secretary\" means the secretary of public safety.","path":["Chapter 29 - Law Enforcement","ARTICLE 4A Peace Officers', New Mexico Mounted Patrol Members' and Reserve Police Officers' Survivors Supplemental Benefits"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18529/index.do","current_through":"2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:19Z","sha256":"3e86010b5da50c307ce1cbbf000e0b3b8a08ef9bcd513de077deb427960a9ddd","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/29-4a-2","next":"us-nm/29-4a-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
