{"data":{"id":"us-nm/30-31-9","jurisdiction":"us-nm","citation":"30-31-9","heading":"Schedule IV.","body":"The following controlled substances are included in Schedule IV:\nA. any material, compound, mixture or preparation which contains any quantity of the following substances having a potential for abuse associated with a depressant effect on the central nervous system:\n(1) barbital;\n(2) chloral betaine;\n(3) chloral hydrate;\n(4) ethchlorvynol;\n(5) ethinamate;\n(6) methohexital;\n(7) meprobamate;\n(8) methylphenobarbital;\n(9) paraldehyde;\n(10) petrichloral; or\n(11) phenobarbital;\nB. controlled substances added to Schedule IV by rule adopted by the board pursuant to Section 30-31-3 NMSA 1978; and\nC. the board may exempt by regulation any compound, mixture or preparation containing any depressant substance listed in Subsection A of this section from the application of all or any part of the Controlled Substances Act if the compound, mixture or preparation contains any active medicinal ingredients not having a depressant effect on the central nervous system and if the admixtures are included in combinations, quantity, proportion or concentration that vitiate the potential for abuse of the substances which have a depressant effect on the central nervous system.","path":["Chapter 30 - Criminal Offenses","ARTICLE 31 Controlled Substances"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18530/index.do","current_through":"2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:19Z","sha256":"7684bc856406075c3e23b2fc668dd0387eae4ac5a0e73643b67bbf7f51d37fe4","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/30-31-8","next":"us-nm/30-31-10"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
