{"data":{"id":"us-nm/30-9-4","jurisdiction":"us-nm","citation":"30-9-4","heading":"Promoting prostitution.","body":"Promoting prostitution consists of any person, acting other than as a prostitute or patron of a prostitute:\nA. knowingly establishing, owning, maintaining or managing a house of prostitution or a place where prostitution is practiced, encouraged or allowed, or participating in the establishment, ownership, maintenance or management thereof;\nB. knowingly entering into any lease or rental agreement for any premises which a person partially or wholly owns or controls, knowing that such premises are intended for use as a house of prostitution or as a place where prostitution is practiced, encouraged or allowed;\nC. knowingly procuring a prostitute for a house of prostitution or for a place where prostitution is practiced, encouraged or allowed;\nD. knowingly inducing another to become a prostitute;\nE. knowingly soliciting a patron for a prostitute or for a house of prostitution or for any place where prostitution is practiced, encouraged or allowed;\nF. knowingly procuring a prostitute for a patron and receiving compensation therefor;\nG. knowingly procuring transportation for, paying for the transportation of or transporting a person within the state with the intention of promoting that person's engaging in prostitution;\nH. knowingly procuring through promises, threats, duress or fraud any person to come into the state or causing a person to leave the state for the purpose of prostitution; or\nI. under pretense of marriage, knowingly detaining a person or taking a person into the state or causing a person to leave the state for the purpose of prostitution.\nWhoever commits promoting prostitution is guilty of a fourth degree felony.","path":["Chapter 30 - Criminal Offenses","ARTICLE 9 Sexual Offenses"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18530/index.do","current_through":"2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:19Z","sha256":"ec41acadd6efd0f91f444f17fe127cd1cb1d8c49ba608232ef81e5dc9fcc25de","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/30-9-3","next":"us-nm/30-9-4.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
