{"data":{"id":"us-nm/47-8-9","jurisdiction":"us-nm","citation":"47-8-9","heading":"Exemptions.","body":"Unless created to avoid the application of the Uniform Owner-Resident Relations Act, the following arrangements are exempted by that act:\nA. residence at an institution, public or private, if incidental to detention or the provision of medical, geriatric, counseling, religious, educational when room and board are an entity or similar service;\nB. occupancy under a contract of sale of a dwelling unit or the property of which it is part, if the occupant is the purchaser or a person who succeeds to his interest;\nC. occupancy by a member of a fraternal or social organization in the portion of a structure operated for the benefit of the organization;\nD. transient occupancy in a hotel or motel;\nE. occupancy by an employee of an owner pursuant to a written rental or employment agreement that specifies the employee's right to occupancy is conditional upon employment in and about the premises; and\nF. occupancy under a rental agreement covering premises used by the occupant primarily for agricultural purposes.","path":["Chapter 47 - Property Law","ARTICLE 8 Owner-Resident Relations"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18550/index.do","current_through":"2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:19Z","sha256":"b7a956b2390c54c1d7891ebc45fe9f0e10da3de7cc9af31acab2da88cb19cb29","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/47-8-8","next":"us-nm/47-8-10"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
