{"data":{"id":"us-nm/59a-51-4","jurisdiction":"us-nm","citation":"59A-51-4","heading":"Qualifications for license.","body":"Applicants for license as bail bondsman or solicitor pursuant to the provisions of the Bail Bondsmen Licensing Law shall:\nA. be an individual not less than eighteen years of age;\nB. be a high school graduate or have passed a high school equivalency examination;\nC. not be a law enforcement, adjudication, jail, court or prosecution official or an employee thereof or an attorney, official authorized to admit to bail or state or county officer;\nD. if for license as bondsman, pass a written examination testing the applicant's knowledge and competence to engage in the bail bondsman business;\nE. be of good personal and business reputation;\nF. if to act as a property bondsman, be financially responsible and provide the surety bond or deposit in lieu thereof as required in accordance with Section 59A-51-8 NMSA 1978;\nG. if to act as a limited surety agent, be appointed by an authorized surety insurer; and\nH. if for license as a solicitor, have been so appointed by a licensed bail bondsman subject to issuance of the solicitor license.","path":["Chapter 59A - Insurance Code","ARTICLE 51 Bail Bondsmen Licensing"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18562/index.do","current_through":"2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:20Z","sha256":"6df5bcf839763aacef37c50c4ec9b6e59f182d58929a13b5ac8bc4db7b9717c7","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/59a-51-3","next":"us-nm/59a-51-4.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
