{"data":{"id":"us-nm/67-16-3","jurisdiction":"us-nm","citation":"67-16-3","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in the Litter Control and Beautification Act:\nA. \"keep America beautiful program\" means a comprehensive program to end littering, improve recycling and beautify American communities;\nB. \"committee\" means the New Mexico clean and beautiful advisory committee;\nC. \"department\" means the tourism department;\nD. \"litter\" means weeds, graffiti and all waste material, including disposable packages or containers, but not including the waste of the primary processes of mining, logging, sawmilling or farming;\nE. \"New Mexico clean and beautiful program\" means the statewide keep America beautiful program established by the department to carry out the purposes of the Litter Control and Beautification Act;\nF. \"person\" means an individual, corporation, partnership, association, firm, receiver, guardian, trustee, executor, administrator, fiduciary or representative or group of individuals or entities of any kind;\nG. \"public place\" means an area that is used or held out for use by the public, whether owned or operated by public or private interests;\nH. \"recycling\" means the collection, separation or processing and return to the economic mainstream of raw materials or products that would otherwise become solid waste; and\nI. \"tourism region\" means one of the following:\n(1) the central region consisting of Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance and Valencia counties;\n(2) the north-central region consisting of Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe and Taos counties;\n(3) the northeast region consisting of Colfax, Guadalupe, Harding, Mora, Quay, San Miguel and Union counties;\n(4) the northwest region consisting of Cibola, McKinley and San Juan counties;\n(5) the southeast region consisting of Chaves, Curry, De Baca, Eddy, Lea, Lincoln, Otero and Roosevelt counties; and\n(6) the southwest region consisting of Catron, Dona Ana, Grant, Hidalgo, Luna, Sierra and Socorro counties.","path":["Chapter 67 - Highways","ARTICLE 16 Litter Control and Beautification"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18570/index.do","current_through":"2026-05-20","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:20Z","sha256":"aadb9e44271cbea7d688c561959986cceff6ed17bbee696fc45784f028864f57","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/67-16-2","next":"us-nm/67-16-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
