The commission may:\n(1) accept gifts, devises, grants and donations from others to carry out the provisions of the New Mexico Youth Conservation Corps Act;\n(2) request assistance and staff support from the department;\n(3) employ such personnel as necessary to carry out the provisions of the New Mexico Youth Conservation Corps Act;\n(4) delegate responsibility for the administration and implementation of conservation projects, corps members' employment and supervision, project coordination and other program matters;\n(5) establish work camps and long-term residential facilities to house corps members and their supervisors; and\n(6) contact potential sponsors and funding sources for support.\nB. The commission shall:\n(1) adopt rules that are necessary for the proper administration of the New Mexico Youth Conservation Corps Act;\n(2) administer and enforce the provisions of the New Mexico Youth Conservation Corps Act and rules adopted pursuant to Paragraph (1) of this subsection;\n(3) develop and approve corps work projects, activities and contracts with project sponsors;\n(4) establish standards, procedures and policies for selecting, hiring, providing compensation for and other personnel matters involving corps members and other personnel;\n(5) foster partnerships and cooperation between the corps and New Mexico's secondary and post-secondary schools to assist corps members in obtaining education and job training; and\n(6) hire a program manager, who shall be the administrative officer of the corps.","path":["Chapter 9 - Executive Department","ARTICLE 5B Youth Conservation Corps"],"source_url":"https://nmonesource.com/nmos/nmsa-unanno/en/item/18509/index.do","current_through":"2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T15:02:19Z","sha256":"79b3a9dc358f31e3f36963c7b3b9de650faff9a54cb677d2aae61ccbf7446d03","source_id":"us-nm","stale":false,"prev":"us-nm/9-5b-5","next":"us-nm/9-5b-7"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
