A person shall not knowingly or under circumstances amounting to criminal negligence:\n(a) Misrepresent, attempt to misrepresent or assist or conspire with another person to misrepresent or attempt to misrepresent the intent or content of a petition for the recall of a public officer which is circulated pursuant to the provisions of this chapter; or\n(b) Obtain, attempt to obtain or assist or conspire with another person to obtain or attempt to obtain a false, forged or unauthorized signature on a petition for the recall of a public officer which is circulated pursuant to the provisions of this chapter.\n2.
