A body shop or garage operator, as applicable, must inform a person regarding the types of payment the body shop or garage accepts:\n(a) If the person is a prospective customer or customer, before the prospective customer or customer authorizes the body shop or garage operator to perform repair work on his or her vehicle; and\n(b) In the specific instance of a body shop, if the:\n(1) Person is the registered owner of the vehicle;\n(2) Vehicle is towed to the body shop at the request of someone other than the registered owner of the motor vehicle; and\n(3) Body shop notifies the registered owner of the location of the vehicle,\nÊ as required pursuant to NRS 487.68703.\n2. The information required to be provided pursuant to subsection 1:\n(a) Must be in writing;\n(b) May be incorporated into a form already used by the body shop or garage operator for another purpose, including, without limitation, a form used to authorize repairs or estimate the cost of repairs or storage; and\n(c) Must set forth, without limitation:\n(1) Whether the body shop or garage provides the service of directly billing an insurance company for any payment due;\n(2) Whether the body shop or garage accepts only cash as payment;\n(3) Whether the body shop or garage accepts credit or debit cards;\n(4) If the body shop or garage accepts credit or debit cards, or both:\n(I) The brand or type of such cards the body shop or garage accepts; and\n(II) Whether the body shop or garage imposes a fee or surcharge for the use of a credit or debit card;\n(5) Whether the body shop or garage accepts personal checks or travelers’ checks; and\n(6) If the body shop or garage does not accept only cash as payment, whether the body shop or garage offers a discount for making payment in the form of cash.","path":["TITLE 43 — PUBLIC SAFETY; VEHICLES; WATERCRAFT","CHAPTER 487 - REPAIR, REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF VEHICLES","GARAGES, GARAGE OPERATORS AND BODY SHOPS","Automotive Repairs"],"source_url":"https://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-487.html#NRS487Sec6874","current_through":"2025 session (NRS as revised 2026-08-25)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T05:51:42Z","sha256":"4f6b64073adc9fc15fbdbe43df6143408472c5e25585876207f867d38f1fcd13","source_id":"us-nv","stale":true,"prev":"us-nv/nrs-487.6873","next":"us-nv/nrs-487.6875"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
