{"data":{"id":"us-nv/nrs-613.440","jurisdiction":"us-nv","citation":"NRS 613.440","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in NRS 613.440 to 613.510, inclusive, unless the context otherwise requires:\n1. “Employer” includes any person acting directly or indirectly in the interest of an employer in relation to an employee or prospective employee.\n2. “Lie detector” means a polygraph, voice stress analyzer, psychological stress evaluator or any other similar device, whether mechanical or electrical, that is used, or the results of which are used, for the purpose of rendering a diagnostic opinion regarding the honesty or dishonesty of an individual.\n3. “Polygraph” means an instrument that:\n(a) Visually, permanently and simultaneously records cardiovascular activity, respiratory activity and changes in skin resistance; and\n(b) Is used, or the results of which are used, for the purpose of rendering a diagnostic opinion regarding the veracity of any statement made by the person examined.\n4. “Polygraphic examination” means a test administered with a polygraph.","path":["TITLE 53 — LABOR AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS","CHAPTER 613 - EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES","USE OF LIE DETECTORS"],"source_url":"https://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-613.html#NRS613Sec440","current_through":"2025 session (NRS as revised 2026-08-25)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T05:51:44Z","sha256":"e7262a7681ba4fe2bf15c737b4b51af3c08fed5170160ee5391514d517ecaef0","source_id":"us-nv","stale":true,"prev":"us-nv/nrs-613.4383","next":"us-nv/nrs-613.450"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
