To the extent authorized by federal law, a pharmacist who meets the requirements prescribed by the Board pursuant to subsection 2 may, in accordance with the requirements of the protocol prescribed pursuant to subsection 2:\n(a) Order and perform laboratory tests that are necessary for therapy that uses a drug approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for preventing the acquisition of human immunodeficiency virus; and\n(b) Prescribe, dispense and administer any drug described in paragraph (a) to a patient.\n2.
