{"data":{"id":"us-nv/nrs-641a.231","jurisdiction":"us-nv","citation":"NRS 641A.231","heading":"Clinical professional counselors: Qualifications of applicants.","body":"Except as otherwise provided in NRS 641A.242, each applicant for a license to practice as a clinical professional counselor must furnish evidence satisfactory to the Board that the applicant:\n1. Is at least 21 years of age;\n2. Is of good moral character;\n3. Has:\n(a) Completed residency training in psychiatry from an accredited institution approved by the Board;\n(b) A graduate degree from a program approved by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs as a program in mental health counseling or community counseling; or\n(c) An acceptable degree as determined by the Board which includes the completion of a practicum and internship in mental health counseling which was taken concurrently with the degree program and was supervised by a licensed mental health professional; and\n4. Has:\n(a) At least 2 years of postgraduate experience in professional counseling;\n(b) At least 3,000 hours of supervised experience in professional counseling which includes, without limitation:\n(1) At least 1,500 hours of direct contact with clients; and\n(2) At least 100 hours of counseling under the direct supervision of an approved supervisor of which at least 1 hour per week was completed for each work setting at which the applicant provided counseling; and\n(c) Passed the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination which is administered by the National Board for Certified Counselors.","path":["TITLE 54 — PROFESSIONS, OCCUPATIONS AND BUSINESSES","CHAPTER 641A - MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPISTS AND CLINICAL PROFESSIONAL COUNSELORS","LICENSES","Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Professional Counselors"],"source_url":"https://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-641A.html#NRS641ASec231","current_through":"2025 session (NRS as revised 2026-08-25)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T05:51:45Z","sha256":"c30edda18ea8daceb37184ed92c5586fb4aa2d79bd18a308a6f1ba79cc6e59ff","source_id":"us-nv","stale":true,"prev":"us-nv/nrs-641a.230","next":"us-nv/nrs-641a.233"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
