A person who:\n(a) Is not less than 21 years of age;\n(b) Has received a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or a doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in a field of social science approved by the Board;\n(c) Has completed not less than 60 hours of training specific to problem gambling approved by the Board;\n(d) Has completed at least 2,000 hours of supervised counseling of persons with an addictive disorder related to gambling in a setting approved by the Board;\n(e) Passes the written and oral examination prescribed by the Board pursuant to NRS 641C.290;\n(f) Presents himself or herself when scheduled for an interview at a meeting of the Board;\n(g) Pays the fees required pursuant to NRS 641C.470; and\n(h) Submits all information required to complete an application for a certificate.\n2. A person who:\n(a) Is not less than 21 years of age;\n(b) Is licensed as:\n(1) A clinical social worker pursuant to chapter 641B of NRS;\n(2) A clinical professional counselor pursuant to chapter 641A of NRS;\n(3) A marriage and family therapist pursuant to chapter 641A of NRS;\n(4) A physician pursuant to chapter 630 of NRS;\n(5) A nurse pursuant to chapter 632 of NRS and has received a master’s degree or a doctoral degree from an accredited college or university;\n(6) A psychologist pursuant to chapter 641 of NRS;\n(7) An alcohol and drug counselor pursuant to this chapter; or\n(8) A clinical alcohol and drug counselor pursuant to this chapter;\n(c) Has completed not less than 60 hours of training specific to problem gambling approved by the Board;\n(d) Has completed at least 1,000 hours of supervised counseling of persons with an addictive disorder related to gambling in a setting approved by the Board;\n(e) Passes the written and oral examination prescribed by the Board pursuant to NRS 641C.290;\n(f) Pays the fees required pursuant to NRS 641C.470; and\n(g) Submits all information required to complete an application for a certificate.","path":["TITLE 54 — PROFESSIONS, OCCUPATIONS AND BUSINESSES","CHAPTER 641C - ALCOHOL, DRUG AND GAMBLING COUNSELORS","LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES","Certificate As Problem Gambling Counselor"],"source_url":"https://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-641C.html#NRS641CSec430","current_through":"2025 session (NRS as revised 2026-08-25)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T05:51:45Z","sha256":"2ffc298c7775b3d1cdf946a5a2bd23ae0b6c4e5a6627bd77d47710168e7902cd","source_id":"us-nv","stale":true,"prev":"us-nv/nrs-641c.420","next":"us-nv/nrs-641c.433"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
